Take four-part harmonies, a pinch of folk, a dash of bluegrass, and a dollop of rock ‘n’ roll, mix well, and you have O Happy Dagger, a six-piece band creating original material as well as taking songs from both traditional and contemporary sources and making them their own. In the three years since the group’s founding, O Happy Dagger has appeared around San Francisco Bay bringing their own brand of Americana — which they have dubbed “Heavy Mellow” — to a growing fan base.
O Happy Dagger is Beth Eiess (vocals), Jay Hipps (vocals, guitar), Jeff Kingman (drums), Sean Kirkpatrick (guitar, vocals), Ainsley (vocals, percussion), and Lynda Zwack (bass). Our seventh member is soundman Marty Kulmus. With lead vocals shifting between four members and new musical ideas coming from everyone involved, the band is truly an example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
